    Hi,

I finally got my ir detectors built for my robot, thanks to the help of this forum. I've made these, so my robot can home in to an IR beacon.

    My problem now...

When I use the debug in the picaxe editor, I get different readings from them both. when I point IR at them, one changes dramatically more than the other.

I used exactly the same components on each one, thinking this would minimise such problems.

Is there a way to calibrate this kind of thing?

    Hello,

I am new to this website and new to robotics also.I was planning to buy a microcontroller board but i am very confused about which one to buy.I have been researching from past few days on the internet and got interested in arduino and picaxe. At this time i can only buy one i.e. either arduino or picaxe. Can anyone explain me which one should i go for ?

    If this helps:

I have basic knowledge in C/C++ programming.

    Hi,

Does anyone have any idea how to interface a picaxe with 2 IR detectors, so it can home in on an IR beacon.

I have started to experiment with this, but bought the wrong kind of detectors, so that didn't work.

I assume the IR transistors connect to 2 of the analog inputs and then once they are showing they are at equal brightness, then the beacon should be dead ahead.

I also don't know if an IR LED needs modulating to 38khz, or if they do this themselves. Also do the receivers need calibrating to 38khz?
